View Original Press Release

Afilias, a leading domain registry operator, has joined the Global Encryption Coalition, a group of more than 100 organizations from across the globe committed to promoting and defending encryption.

The Global Encryption Coalition brings together civil society organizations, technology companies, trade associations, and security experts to advocate for strong encryption policies worldwide. As a member, Afilias will work alongside other coalition members to support policies that protect users' privacy and security online.

"Encryption is fundamental to internet security and user privacy," said Ram Mohan, Chief Operating Officer at Afilias. "As a domain registry operator managing millions of domain names, we understand the critical importance of strong encryption in protecting our customers and their users. We're proud to join the Global Encryption Coalition in advocating for policies that support robust encryption standards."

The Global Encryption Coalition works to educate policymakers about the importance of encryption, counter proposals that would weaken encryption, and promote the adoption of strong encryption standards. Coalition members collaborate on research, advocacy campaigns, and public education efforts.

Afilias operates more than 200 top-level domains (TLDs) and provides DNS and registry services to millions of domain name registrants worldwide. The company has long been committed to security best practices, including support for DNSSEC (Domain Name System Security Extensions) and other security technologies.
