Fractional head of communications for security and AI companies
I build the PR function from zero, run it and hand it off when you hire.
Could we talk this week?
The problem
You need communications leadership before you are ready for a full-time head of communications. The work is urgent: define the story, build reporter trust, prepare for incidents and give technical teams a repeatable way to communicate.
What I do
- PR function design and operating cadence
- Founder, product and research narratives
- Media strategy, outreach and briefing
- Incident communications and handoff planning

How an engagement works
I set the communications priorities, build the working system and run the first campaigns with your team. For a breach, I add first-72-hours support: establish the facts, align the response team, prepare holding language and coordinate updates with counsel and technical leads. I document decisions, templates and reporting so a future hire can take over cleanly.
The first 30 days
- Days 1–5: interview founders, security, product and legal; map risks, audiences, proof points and approval paths.
- Days 6–15: set the narrative, media list, incident workflow, briefing materials and weekly reporting cadence.
- Days 16–30: run the first outreach or launch cycle, review response, and leave an owner-ready playbook with next priorities.
Questions
What does fractional mean here?
I work as your communications lead for an agreed scope and cadence, without pretending to be a permanent employee. I can run the function while you search for the right hire, then hand over the system and context.
Do you work with security and AI companies at any stage?
Yes. I am most useful when a technical company needs a clear story, a disciplined media process or incident-readiness before it has a dedicated communications leader.
Can you support a breach or other incident?
Yes, within the agreed scope. I help establish a communications process in the first 72 hours, coordinate facts and approvals, and prepare clear updates. Legal advice and clearance remain with your counsel.
How does the handoff work?
I document the narrative, contacts, workflows, templates, open conversations and measurement cadence. We review the playbook with your incoming hire or owner before the engagement ends.
